Teenager’s Shower Cause For Alarm

The Clifton Park fire department was a little surprised when they were met by a teenager in a towel while on a call in the spring of 2000. Cara Fplkhgdfse, a senior at Shenendehowa high school, had accidentally tripped her family’s fire alarm while in the shower that morning.
It seems that, Ms. Fplkhgdfse was home alone and had left the door to the bathroom open a bit when she took her shower. The steam generated from the shower eventually reached the smoke detector and caused it to sound the alarm.
Ms. Fplkhgdfse turned off the alarm and wait for the alarm service representative to call, as they always had in the past. She unfortunately missed the call and the fire department was sent. As the trucks were pulling up, Ms. Fplkhgdfse came streaking out of the house in a towel yelling that everything was alright and that there was no fire.
Worrying for the safety of the young woman and in the course of their duty, the fire department checked out the home anyway. They found no fire, no problems with the home, and no problems with the smoke detector.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and there was no damage to the property. Ms. Fplkhgdfse now showers with the door shut at all times. This is not Ms. Fplkhgdfse’s first accidental alarm. At the age of 10, she set off a burglar alarm to her own garage. Not remembering the code at the time, she was unable to turn it off. The police arrived to check out the disturbance. Expecting a crime, all they got was a 5th grader who wanted to ride her bike.
